The availability of biodiesel is increasing in South Dakota with the work of the South Dakota Soybean Research and Promotion Council (SDSRPC). The SDSRPC has partnered with Gerstner Oil in Yankton to promote the use of biodiesel. Gerstner Oil constructed a 12,000 gallon heated tank that will hold B100 for biodiesel blending year-round. Gerstner Oil is currently selling biodiesel to farmers, other distributors and retail stations.

Please join us at the Gerstner Oil Grand Opening Ceremony on Tuesday, June 30 starting at 11:30 a.m. to unveil the new tank and celebrate the increased availability of biodiesel. The first 50 people will receive a $100 gift certificate towards the purchase of biodiesel! There will be a short program featuring regional speakers on the importance of biodiesel. Following the program, attendees can stay for lunch and refreshments. Gerstner Oil is located at 3004 SD-50, Yankton, SD 57078.

If you are interested in attending, please RSVP to South Dakota Soybean by June 24. You can call 605-330-9942 or email cdoeden@sdsoybean.org.

Biodiesel is America’s only advanced biofuel and over 50% of all biodiesel is made from soybean oil. Using soybean oil for the production of biodiesel has increased the soybean price by $0.74 per bushel, adding to the soybean farmer’s bottom-line.
