Welcome to the South Dakota Soybean's new, free agriculture curriculum! Designed for agriculture educators across South Dakota, this innovative curriculum, supported by the South Dakota Soybean Checkoff, offers a unique and engaging approach to learning about soybeans.
This curriculum covers ten diverse topics, including soybean composition, diseases, and applications in aquaculture, food processing, and biofuels production. Each lesson aligns with state educational standards and offers fun, hands-on projects that bring the world of soybeans to life in the classroom.
Educators will find comprehensive resources, including detailed guides to support effective teaching, engaging reading materials for students, instructional aids, worksheets, and supplementary resources. These materials are available in various formats, allowing teachers to adapt the content to suit their classroom needs.
Each curriculum includes funding for lab kits, which are equipped with materials for five hands-on labs. These experiments include soybean growing, soybean meal in rations, biodiesel production, soy candle making, and tofu creation. The kits cater to up to twenty students, providing everything needed to implement the curriculum effectively.
