Soybean Success Seminars 2017

February 10, 2017

Last week, over 350 farmers attended the annual South Dakota Soybean Success Seminars. These educational seminars focused on management practices to help farmers increase soybean yields and quality. South Dakota Soybean has analyzed seven years of Yield Contest data, and agronomists presented best management practices and trends at the seminars.

“I feel it’s important for growers to come to the success seminars in order to pick up new information about production of soybeans in South Dakota,” says Myles Brockmueller, farmer near Freeman, SD. “It’s an opportunity to network with other farmers and hear what they’re doing.”

The Soybean Success Seminars featured one of two speakers: Al Kluis, broker, trader and owner of Kluis Commodities or Dr. Elywnn Taylor, agricultural meteorologist.

Alan Kluis has been a commodity advisor and broker since 1976. He is president and managing partner of Kluis Commodities in Wayzata, Minnesota. He is a frequent market analyst for the Linder Farm Radio News Network. Alan was co-author of the weekly AgInvestor Newsletter for 12 years, and is now the author of new weekly commodity advisory newsletter, The Al Kluis Report.

Dr. S. Elwynn Taylor is the extension climatologist at Iowa State University, and is well known for his analysis of weather influence on the Midwest. He is widely recognized for his clear explanations of the complexities of long-term weather variability.
