South Dakota Soybean Checkoff offers a time to relax and learn at the State Fair

August 26, 2025

South Dakota Soybean Checkoff is inviting fairgoers to relax and learn during the South Dakota State Fair in Huron, engaging fairgoers with artistic, interactive displays as a part of the Soybean Lounge.
The Soybean Lounge, happening August 27 - September 1, is a chance for people unfamiliar with the soybean story to learn how this crop supports not only food and fuel, but the South Dakota way of life.
South Dakota Soybean Checkoff executive director Jerry Schmitz is eager to see how the lounge helps audiences learn about soybean's important role in our home state.
"The South Dakota State Fair is a place where everyone comes together," said Schmitz.
"You have people who are knowledgeable about ag - and then you have people just getting introduced to that story."
"Connecting our mission to every generation and demographic is a way for soybeans to remain relevant and useful to consumers for years to come."
At the lounge, visitors will be able to participate in an interactive mural and relax at the Fair with some soy-fueled facts and informational displays.
