South Dakota Farmers Encouraged to Apply for ASA Corteva Young Leader Program
The future of agriculture depends on strong, informed, and engaged leaders, and the ASA Corteva Agriscience Young Leader Program is helping shape exactly that. With applications now open through August 22, 2025, South Dakota soybean farmers are encouraged to apply for this prestigious, hands-on leadership development experience.
The program, open to individuals and couples involved in farming, provides two phases of immersive training. Phase I takes place December 1 to 4, 2025, at Corteva’s Global Business Center in Johnston, Iowa. Phase II is held February 24 to 27, 2026, in conjunction with Commodity Classic in San Antonio, Texas.
Participants will gain essential tools in communication, leadership, and policy engagement, all while forming deep connections with fellow soybean growers from across the U.S.. One unique component of the Young Leader Program is that spouses are invited and encouraged to participate fully, regardless of whether they work full time on the farm.
“The Young Leader Program was a turning point in my involvement with leadership,” said Kevin Deinert, president of the South Dakota Soybean Association. “It gave me the confidence, training, and network I needed to step into new roles. I encourage any farmer who wants to make a difference for their farm and their community to apply.”
Deinert is one of many South Dakota soybean leaders who are alumni of the program. In fact, each Young Leader participant is invited to serve as a voting member of the South Dakota Soybean Association board of directors throughout their program year, offering a direct opportunity to engage in policy discussions and organizational decision-making.
Young Leaders graduates often go on to serve in key positions at the state and national level, helping to guide the future of the soybean industry. Whether you’re in your 20s or 50s, what matters is your passion for agriculture and your desire to lead.
Interested individuals can learn more and apply by visiting the ASA Young Leader Program page or by contacting the South Dakota Soybean office at (605) 330-9942.
