Attend the SDSA Annual Meeting

SDSA will host a discussion on transportation and rail issues at the SDSA Annual Meeting on December 10 at the Ramkota Hotel in Sioux Falls. The meeting will begin at 2 p.m. Attendees will hear from SDSA representatives, as well as Greg Guthrie, director of Agricultural Products Marketing for BNSF. Guthrie will discuss rail transportations issues that have impacting in the Midwest.

With the 2014 growing season complete, it’s time for the agricultural community to look forward to 2015. The South Dakota Soybean Association brings this opportunity to farmers at the Tenth Annual AgOutlook Conference& Trade Show on December 11 at the Ramkota Exhibit Hall in Sioux Falls, S.D.

We’ll hear from top-rated agricultural speakers on marketing, issues facing farming today and more,” said John Horter, SDSA president and farmer from Andover, S.D.

Arlan Suderman — 10:30 a.m.
Making Sense of the Markets
Arlan Suderman is the Senior Market Analyst at Water Street Solutions, an agricultural consulting firm, leading the firm’s market research efforts. Suderman’s agronomic knowledge, combined with his passion for the markets, gives him valuable insight into the realities of production ag. Market movements frequently defy logic. Suderman will put it all into perspective, providing clarity on the factors driving the markets in a way that builds understanding of how they can be put to work to benefit your operation. Suderman shares his market commentary daily on Twitter with more than 11,000 followers. He can be heard daily on many radio stations across the Midwest, and writes MarketSense Weekly, a free market update email newsletter.

Jay Lehr — 1 p.m.
Reintroducing the American Farm to America
Dr. Jay Lehr combines five decades of expertise and experience with the most contagious enthusiasm for the future of the American farm and ranch. Lehr will address some of the major issues impacting agriculture today. Lehr received the nation’s first Ph.D. in Ground Water Hydrology from the University of Arizona in 1962. Lehr started Environmental Education Enterprises, Inc., a company specializing in training through high level technical short courses for environmental scientists and engineers across the United States and Canada. Currently, Lehr is the Science Director of the Heartland Institute a libertarian think tank as well as a Senior Scientist with Environmental Education Enterprises in Ostrander, Ohio.

Mark Mayfield — 3 p.m.

Mark Mayfield was raised on a farm in Caney, Kansas, and is a graduate of Kansas State University. Known as “The Corporate Comedian,” Mayfield’s philosophy is simple; say it with humor and people will take the message home.
