Apply for the 2016 See For Yourself China Tour
The South Dakota Soybean Research & Promotion Council encourages you to apply for the 2016 See for Yourself China Tour, taking place March 7-16.
This See For Yourself mission will allow South Dakota soybean farmers the opportunity to experience the export process of U.S. soybeans firsthand in China. As the world’s No. 1 soybean importer and U.S. soybean farmers’ top export customer, China’s total soybean consumption is expected to top 3 billion bushels this year.
While in the country, South Dakota soybean farmers will have the opportunity to meet with some of the largest buyers of U.S. soybeans and soybean meal. Participants will visit the cities of Beijing, Guangzhou, Nanning, Hong Kong and Shenzhen. Tour stops include Chinese ports, hog and poultry farms, aquaculture facilities, a crushing plant and feed mill. Participants will also get a taste of Chinese culture and history by visiting the Forbidden City and Great Wall.
Selection: To be eligible the application must be completed in full; applicants must be soybean farmers and pay the South Dakota soybean checkoff. Applications are due in the SDSRPC office by August 18, 2015. A committee of South Dakota Soybean Research & Promotion Council (SDSRPC) farmer directors will select 10 participants. Applicants will be notified by September 1 if selected. SDSRPC will need a final commitment by September 15th from selected applicants.
Cost: The cost to participate is $1,000. A $500 deposit is required by September 15th followed by one last payment of $500 due by December 15. Hotel, most meals and travel will be covered by SDSRPC. Any required immunizations, passport, and souvenir expenses will be the responsibility of participants.
