Applications Open for Fourth Class of South Dakota Soybean Genesis Leaders Program
The South Dakota Soybean Genesis Leaders Program, sponsored by the South Dakota Soybean Checkoff, is now accepting applications for its fourth class. The Genesis Leaders Program, created in partnership with the South Dakota Agriculture and Rural Leadership Program (SDARL), invites South Dakota residents aged 21 and older with a direct role in the soybean industry to apply.
Running from December 2024 through March 2025, the program offers four interactive seminars aimed at developing leadership skills and deepening industry knowledge. The curriculum spans topics such as the role of soybean organizations, consumer engagement, legislative processes, and leadership development. Participants will connect with industry experts, explore the soybean value chain, and gain the skills to lead both within their industry and their communities.
“Through the Genesis Program, participants learn about soybean production in ways they may never have seen before—from legislative insights to global soybean trade,” said Zach Hefty, a recent Genesis Program alum and current member of the Ag PhD team. “It’s a hands-on experience that equips growers to make a difference in the field and at the policy table.”
The program requires a $200 tuition fee, which is refunded at $50 per seminar attended, making this leadership opportunity accessible to aspiring leaders from across the state.
Applications are due by December 6, 2024, with successful applicants notified shortly thereafter. For more information, visit sdsoybean.org or contact the South Dakota Soybean office at (605) 330-9942.
