Best Bean Practices: Insecticide Seed Treatment

Agronomist Kyle Gufstaton (Winfield/Land O’Lakes) addresses some best practices for managing bean leaf beetles (Cerotoma trifurcata) in this educational video produced by South Dakota farmers through the soybean checkoff.

In South Dakota, producers should plan to scout fields planted with soybeans in June for signs of bean leaf beetle pressure; if insecticide was not applied as a seed treatment, it will be very important to perform an in-season application to keep bean leaf beetles at bay.
