Scott McKee, a farmer from Union County, took home Overall First Place in the South Dakota Soybean Soybean Yield Contest with his record-breaking soybean yield of 106.6 bushels per acre, breaking his previous record of 103.7 bushels per acre from last year’s contest. McKee planted DuPont Pioneer variety 25T51R. The South Dakota Soybean Research and Promotion Council and the South Dakota Soybean Association announced the awards at the annual Soybean Recognition Banquet on December 9.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released the Final Rule setting the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) volume requirements, including the volume requirements for biomass-based diesel for 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017 this week. The South Dakota Soybean Association (SDSA) and American Soybean Association (ASA) appreciate EPA, the U.S Department of Agriculture(USDA) and the Obama Administration for their contributions to this Final Rule that provides some stability and modest growth for the U.S. biodiesel industry.
The South Dakota Soybean Association (SDSA) is the soybean advocacy organization that works hard to represent farmers’ best interests in Washington.
