South Dakota Soybean Research and Promotion Council

Heather Beaner

District 9, Director

Heather is a soybean and corn farmer near Mellette, SD. She served 12 years active duty in Air Force as an attorney before transferring to Reserves in 2011 to come home and take over her father’s farm. She retired from the Air Force Reserves in December 2019. In addition to farming, Heather does some college and high school substitute teaching. Her other involvement includes being a worship coordinator and grade school teacher at church, an officer in the American Legion and Auxillary, and holding a position on the Board of Directors for Agtegra Cooperative. Heather’s husband, Matt, is the president of a commercial general contracting company. They have one son, Gabriel, who is 5 years old.

“I wake up every day and think how I can serve God by taking care of the land he’s put in my care. Conservation practices are a must for us to sustainably feed the world in a manner that non-farmers can understand and embrace.”
