Great Downtown Pumpkin Festival
Saturday, September 30
9 am – 4 pm
Rapid City Main Street Square
Join Hungry for Truth as they sponsor the 2017 Great Downtown Pumpkin Festival in downtown Rapid City on September 30. The event will feature a pumpkin catapult, giant pumpkin weigh-off and, at the Hungry for Truth booth, your chance to meet a local farmer and win great prizes.
While at the booth, find out how food gets from the farm to your table. You can also get answers about popular news topics like GMOs, pesticides and sustainability from farmers who know best. Asking questions about these topics ensures South Dakotans make healthy and safe food choices for their families.
“As farmers, we want to hear from consumers about their concerns and questions because those conversations help us grow and understand what people want,” said Marc Reiner, farmer from Tripp and South Dakota Soybean Research & Promotion Council director. “I always look forward to visiting with South Dakotans about topics we are all passionate about: food, farming and family.”
The event has plenty of family activities for a day filled with entertainment, food and fun. The Regional Health and Scull Construction Kidz Zone, as well as wagon rides, are perfect for the family. Other festival features include a pumpkin catapult, giant pumpkin weigh-off, chef competition, beverage garden and much more.
Hungry for Truth is an initiative about food and farming from the South Dakota Soybean Research and Promotion Council. The goal of Hungry for Truth is to connect South Dakotans to the farmers who grow their food.
