Soybean farmers in District 4:

Vote for your next representative on the South Dakota soybean checkoff board of directors. To vote, stop in at one of the FSA county offices listed below, or request a ballot by phone from one of the FSA offices.

FSA offices are open for voting 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from May 15 to June 14. Ballots must be postmarked by June 14, and returned to the South Dakota Soybean Research and Promotion Council. Only soybean farmers in the District 4 counties of Brookings, Deuel, Hamlin, Kingsbury and Miner can vote in the election. For more information, visit our Director Election webpage.

Over sixty percent of South Dakota’s soybean crop is exported overseas, and 15 South Dakota soybean farmers have the opportunity to see firsthand how the South Dakota soybean checkoff contributes to export opportunities.

The South Dakota Soybean Research and Promotion Council selected 15 soybean farmers to participate in this year's See For Yourself mission, June 24-27, 2013. 

The See For Yourself mission gives participants the opportunity to visit various export facilities and meet with industry leaders at the:

• Port of Grays Harbor
• Tacoma Export Marketing Company (TEMCO)
• Port of Longview
• AGP Facility
• Imperium Renewables Biodiesel Plant

Brent Hajek, the diesel landspeed record holder, will be in the SD Soybean Tent all 3 days of Dakotafest with his biodiesel pickup. Visit with Brent about his racing experiences and the superior performance of biodiesel, America's Advaned Biofuel.

• Free chicken wings on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. to support animal agriculture
• Ice Cream Social on Wednesday from Noon to 4 p.m. featuring free SDSU ice cream
